JPRacing - Abandoned

Wetherby, Down Royal and Ffos Las have all been lost on what looked like the potential to a blockbuster Friday, and the newsletter was nearly abandoned too as I’m off to Prague shortly.

But I’ve managed to fit some time in before heading to the airport, so here we are you lucky people.

Yesterday’s edition only produced a couple of winners. Zachary got up for the second time in three runs at Chelmsford, and Star Of St Louis was a much-needed winner for the horses and boosts chat.

There are three cards left standing in the UK and Ireland today — Newmarket, Newcastle and Dundalk — while the Breeders’ Cup kicks off tonight stateside.

Ones to watch

I think last time Sweetest failed to win I was done with her, but the opener at Dundalk looks like a good opportunity for her to shed her maiden tag and I’m drawn toward her again.

She was found out massively at Newmarket last month when coming home last of 13 runners in a G3, her form in this standard of race is solid enough though, and she could be able to get off the mark here on her AW debut with a tongue tie back on. She’s 11/8.

It could be a decent day for Ralph Beckett over at HQ, as he appears to have a couple of nice charges.

The first of those is Zoum Zoum at 11/8 in the opener at 11:15 - yep, 11:15! The Zoustar gelding won first-time out at Kempton last month, and looks capable of winning under a penalty as further progress should be on the cards.

I also like newcomer Hutchence and the once-raced Stop The Cavalry from Beckett’s yard. The former is a Frankel colt, who looks bred to be nice and couple of being in the frame from 5/1 in the 11:45.

The other, a 2000,000 gns purchase, won comfortably on debut at Haydock in September and is 11/2 in the 12:50 Listed contest.

Another from the Breeders’ Cup, cause there’s nothing left over here, is Go With Gusto at 9/4 in the opener at 18:30.

She was third in a G1 at Woodbine, in September, and that form should see her win here in this lesser field.
