JPRacing - Wednesday

After a good start to the week on Monday, yesterday was an absolute blowout. I had a bad feeling about it when looking at the cards, and it proved to be worse than I imagined.

We go again today though, with three jumps cards at Musselburgh, Warwick and Chepstow — which got the go-ahead after an inspection this morning — and AW fixtures at Dundalk and Kempton.

Let’s get on with it…

Ones to watch

There are four juvenile races at Kempton this evening, and I have picked out the two that I like from those.

The first is newcomer Ehtiram at 5/2 in the 17:00. The Shadwell horse has a very nice pedigree as a filly RIBCHESTER and half-sister to BAAEED and HUKUM. This looks like a good starting point for the Owen Burrows-trained 2YO, but Andrew Balding’s newcomer Belcamo is being well-backed in the market and that could be a sign.

At 18:00, 6/4 shot Blown Away looks like the one to beat. The Gosden colt won on the AW at Chelmsford on his third attempt in September and was unlucky not to strike again when last seen over C&D last month. First-time blinkers are on for him and his best form is on the AW, so it’s an excellent chance.

I’m going to start including Bumper runners in this section when I see ones that I like, and today’s pick is Jacobin (7/4) in the 16:25 at Chepstow. The grey gelding is making his debut for Team Ditcheat and JP McManus, and he’s the top yard’s first-string as Harry Cobden has opted to ride over Mount Gay Run.

Horizon D’Or made it two wins in four since joining Adam West from Neil Mulholland when winning at Ffos Las last month. He’s up 7lb for that success, but he still looks capable of landing back-to-back wins at 11/8 in the 15:35 at Warwick.
