JPRacing - Thursday
If you’ve opened the Racing Post app today, you’ll see ABANDONED amongst today’s racecards once again.
Today marks one of four meetings at Southwell to be called off due to flooding from the River Greet, with fixtures on October 30 and 2&4 November also off.
The good news is that there is still plenty of racing going ahead today for what seems like the first time in ages, with three jumps cards at Carlisle, Ludlow and Clonmel, and flat AW at Lingfield and Wolverhampton.
That said, going into the jumps and AW season, I’m going to need a new format for the newsletter. So any suggestions on what it could look like going forward, let me know!
Anyway, there were a couple of decent winners yesterday. Point Sur won from 13/8 to make it two wins in a row for horses in the broadcast channel, while City House was another decent NAP at 3/1.
Let’s get on with it…

Let’s do one from each AW meeting…
First up is Saviour at 13/8 in the 15:40 at Lingfield. The Wotton Bassett colt was third from 12/1 in a 10-runner C4 novice event at Salisbury on October 5. If he has learned from that experience and if further improvement is on the cards, then the Hugo Palmer-trained horse can win in this drop in grade this afternoon.
Over to Wolverhampton, I do like Cuban Harry at 3/1 in the 16:25 so will be keeping an eye on him and potentially dabbling, but my main fancy of the juvenile races there would be Cherry Hill in the 17:00.
The penny finally dropped for the Dominic Ffrench Davis-trained horse on the sixth attempt at Kempton last month, and in-form Oisin Murphy returns to the saddle after guiding her home at 12/1 lot. She’s 5lb higher, but could still be ahead of her mark and can follow up.

18:30 Wolverhampton: He’s A Gentleman (2/1)
He’s A Gentleman was knocking on the door with two seconds and a third before finally getting off the mark under Oisin Murphy earlier this month. He’s up 2lb for that success today, but shouldn’t be enough to stop him… twitter.com/i/web/status/1…

There are a good few in the jumps that I like the look of today.
The first is Vincenzo at 3/1 in the opener at Carlisle. He was a close second in a two-mile bumper and looks capable of making a winning start over hurdles for the in-form Sam Thomas — who has a 100% strike rate thanks to three-winning runners in the last 14 days.
The Electrical Kid is a short price at 11/10 in the opener at Clonmel. But he was second on his only P2P appearance two years ago before being snapped up for £95,000, and he’s taken to make a winning start for Willie Mullins over hurdles this afternoon.
Jenny Flex (9/4) finally got off the mark for Gordon Elliot at Downpatrick lto after a couple of seconds. She had cheekpieces on for the first win when producing that first win and she retains them this afternoon as she looks for back-to-back wins when making handicap debut in the 16:55 at Clonmel.
