JPRacing - Thursday
Another day, another jumps racing card abandoned. This time it is Wincanton that is off, but the good news is that there are still four cards set to go ahead — Clonmel and Market Rasen in the jumps sphere and Southwell and Chelmsford on the AW.
Before we get onto it, a quick recap of yesterday. We ended up +6.83 up yesterday thanks to Kaleidoscope (2/1), Miltiades (10/3) and the NAP Arisaig (5/2) all winning, while El Cordobes cost us the clean sweep.
Anyway, that’s in the past and we go again today…

Ones to watch
There’s an interesting battle unfolding at the fore of the market for Market Rasen’s bumper at 15:25. Diamond Kid has been second on his two starts in this sphere, but he is drifting out slightly and has made way at the top for Casual Observer (15/8).
He was second on his only Irish P2P start back in March, and he looks like he could be worth siding with on his first yard/rules starts for Harry Derham.
In terms of AW juveniles, there are only two 2YO races at Southwell this afternoon. But Regimental Code looks like he’s worth siding with after his promising debut at Kempton a month ago when running on well toward the finish to come 4th of 9 from 8/1. Roger Varian is going with a hood this time, and there’s every chance he goes better.

12:02 Clonmel: Charity Barnum (6/4)
Second last of eight on reappearance at Punchestown last month, but still has plenty of promise and looks worth taking a chance on in this contest

Paul Townend only has a couple of rides today at Clonmel, the heavy odds-on Cash Back is one, but it’s his other that I am tossing up — Henn See at 11/8.
He made a good return when second after a 296-day break at Wexford last month, and if he can run to a similar standard today and he should get off the mark over the bigger obstacles on the fourth attempt.
