JPRacing - Storm Debi 🌧️

The UK and Ireland are battening down the hatches for yet another storm, while racing fans are preparing for even more cancellations.

Carlisle has payed the price after heavy rainfall overnight, leaving us with just three cards this today.

There’s a sole AW meeting at Wolverhampton, and two jumps meetings at Fakenham and Kempton.

There might not be a lot to get through in this newsletter, but let’s get on with it.

Ones to watch

There’s just the one 2YO flat race today, the 17:30 at Wolverhampton, and it should go in favour of the favourite Pickwell.

He was third over C&D from 66/1 on debut less than two weeks ago. The experience of that and a smoother run from a handy draw could see him get off the mark under Billy Loughnane this evening.

In terms of bumpers, Charmian’s Place looks primed to get off the mark in the last at Fakenham.

She was second at Warwick from 18/1 on debut in February and was fourth at Worcester from 12/1 in May. The standard setter today and should be winning at 7/4.

hat-trick seeking Intoxicata looks capable of landing a third win in a row for Ed Dunlop despite the 6lb penalty she has to shoulder.

The first of her last two wins were at this course and tonight’s longer distance of 1m1/2f shouldn’t be an issue. This will likely be her last race in a class 6, and she can mark it with a win at 7/4.

Scene One got off the mark on the sixth attempt over hurdles last time out in April, with second and third winning since, and he looks like he can be even better over this bigger obstacles - so looks siding with at 15/8 on his seasonal/chase debut in the 13:30 at Fakenham.
