New Post
There was another full house on Wednesday, with all three tips winning. But yesterday wasn’t great, with neither of the two tips winning.
Overall, it’s been a pretty good week still though and I’m doing a newsletter for the first time since Tuesday — there have been reasons for the absence which I won’t go into.
January was a pretty good month in general, actually. The telegram was up +28 and the newsletter exclusives were +14.
Anyway, it’s a busy Friday of racing. There are jumps at Catterick and Southwell, AW at Lingfield, Dundalk, and Newcastle — while there’s also flat over in Meydan.
Let’s get down to business.

15:25 Southwell: Zwicky (13/8)
Three wins over hurdles this season. Could fare no better than third when favourite at Hexham last month, but step up in trip to 3m today should suit. Big Chance

Great Basket has performed well since switching to Richard Newland and Jamie Insole and hitting the AW, winning on his yard/AW debut at Wolverhampton in December. His form reads 323 since and perhaps unlucky back at Wolves when beaten by just half-a-length last time. He’s just 2lb higher than his last winning mark and can win the opener at Lingfield under Rossa Ryan from 15/8.
My Gift To You is 2-2 over fences and returns to chasing after winning over hurdles over C&D last month. He’s up 5lb on his return to the bigger obstacles, but that shouldn’t be a major concern as he bids for a hat-trick over fences. He’s 2/1 in the 13:55 at Southwell.
Shantou Moon picked up his second career win over C&D last month, and a 5lb rise in the weights also shouldn’t inconvenience him as he looks to follow up. He’s also 2/1 for the 15:35 at Catterick.
There’s already a main single and a double for Meydan in the telegram, but there’s a couple more I like over in the Middle East. The first is Miller’s House in the 15:15. He’s been hammered into as short as 9/1 in some places, but 365 still have him priced at 28/1.
He won a 1m maiden here four years ago, and he was 8th of 9 runners in a 6f handicap here last month. That run for the new yard was after a year off though and there’s a chance he can go even better today. Should be worth an EW chance if you can still get him 28s by the time this goes out.
A lot of preference is for Walbank in the 15:50, but I prefer Mischief Magic at 2/1. The Godolphin horse stayed on when 4-11 in a 5f listed dash here in December. That suggests he should like this return to 6f.
There might be Newcastle and Dundalk in the telegram later depending on how things develop.
