JPRacing - Friday

Ignore what I was saying yesterday, banging on about the weather and how hopefully there won’t be too many more cancellations, as Sandown’s Saturday card has bit the dust this morning.

There was some value in a few of yesterday’s selections though, as the NAP Hill Of Tara and Goblet Of Fire were both tipped at 11/8 and 15/8 but went off at 4/7 and 10/11. Sometimes it pays to get in early!

All of today’s cards get the go-ahead, with jumps at Ludlow and Musselburgh and AW at Southwell this afternoon and Wolverhampton this evening.

Before we get on with it though, just a heads up that I will likely be doing a Saturday newsletter tomorrow morning as well, so keep an eye on your inbox for that…

Two-time hurdle winner Malaita has made a decent enough start over fences, finished second at Ludlow in October and fourth at Warwick in November before falling at Cheltenham in December when leading three out. She should be in the frame at 5/2 in the 13:00 at Ludlow if that fall hasn’t taken too much out of her.

Another Charlie Deutsch and Venetia Williams runner that is being well-backed is Haut Folin in the 14:45. He was a telegram tip when second at Market Rasen in November, but he’s worth siding with again this afternoon and is getting a bit of market support as he’s been pumped into 13/8.

At Musselburgh, P2P winner Flaubert is making his debut under rules in the bumper and he’s also getting a lot of support in the market as he’s now 9/4 from as far out as 3/1. The 48,000 purchase has a nice pedigree, with his dam winning a bumper, a hurdle and a couple of chases. There’s a tongue strap on first time, and plenty to like.

Southwell is already underway, so I’ve missed the first, but I like Jackson Street in the second. He’s improved each time he’s taken to the track, with a close C&D second here LTO a career-best from the Burke horse. Varian’s Regimental Code is well supported, but I’m siding with the 3/1 chance.
