New Post
I’ve lost count of how many newsletters I have titled abandoned at this stage, and there’s still more to come.
Chepstow and Plumpton were off yesterday, Newbury is cancelled today, Ludlow, Fairyhouse and Wincanton are abandoned tomorrow (leaving no jumps again), Lingfield has already called off Friday’s card — and Haydock and Ascot are both in serious threat on Saturday.
Thankfully Southwell passed an inspection this morning, so we do have some jumps racing to savour amongst the uncertainty — and that saved the newsletter from being abandoned.
There’s AW racing again at Newcastle, this time throughout the afternoon, while there’s an evening AW meeting at Kempton.
Let’s get down to business.

Tune In A Box got off the mark over hurdles on the fourth attempt, winning by over nine lengths when dropped to Class 5 company for his handicap debut at Newcastle in November. He has to carry 9lb more for that success, but there’s every chance he can still follow up in this grade and again in the 15:55 at 15/8.
Liege was 5-11 on debut at over 7f at Wolverhampton last month, and the manner in which he weakened in the final furlong there suggests that this drop in trip to 6f should suit. Should improve from that debut too, so could be worth siding with in the 14:20 at 7/4.
Sticking with Newcastle, Intoxicata appeared to be readying to score again with a string of consistent performances. However, she was sixth when last seen at Southwell 11 days ago. The Dunlop horse drops a pound after that and had a big chance of returning to form in the 15:30 at 9/4.
Admirable Lad was an admirable second at Wolverhampton on Saturday over this trip and the Chelsea Banham-trained horse looks capable of going one better back in handicap company at 2/1 in the 17:30 at Kempton. Due Date won LTO, but has to carry a 5lb penalty and Admirable Lad could capitalise.
