JPRacing - Last dance (until July 10)
Today is the last day of the newsletter until July 10 as I go on holiday tomorrow, and the way things have been going recently, I feel like I owe it to you to make sure this edition is a good one.
There’s plenty of racing today, with flat meetings at Carlisle, Salisbury, Naas, Kempton and Bath and a jumps card at Worcester. So, let’s dive straight in.
Headlines
Oisin Murphy and Frankie Dettori are to miss the July Cup, meaning the Italian won’t get the chance to do the clean sweep of the British Group 1s as that is the only one missing from his CV.
As stated on Twitter last night, Royal Ascot Hampton Court winner Waipiro is set to continue his career in Hong Kong with the Derby the main target for the horse’s connections.
Roger Varian is thinking about dropping Derby second and Royal Ascot winner King Of Steel back to a mile and a quarter. The Amo horse will likely stick to 1m4f for the G1 Grand Prix de Paris next month, but 10f could be an option in the future.
Ones to watch
Equity Law is an eye-catching runner in the 15:10 at Salisbury. He made a promising debut to finish second behind the odds-on Sky Wizard over C&D earlier this month and has been hammered into odds-on (10/11) himself from 6/5 this morning. He sets the standard and Oisin Murphy rides for Andrew Balding.

There are a couple of 2YOs that could go well at Carlisle as well. All Is Fair (7/4) was green on his debut at Haydock, breaking slowly out of the stalls and losing a shoe but still managed a good third from 11/1 despite almost everything going wrong. If things are right today, then he’s a key player in the opener.

Ajwadi (7/2) is an interesting newcomer for Richard Fahey. He was a 57,000gns yearling and a 150,000gns 2YO. Dam Falaise is an unraced sister to Group-place 6f 2YO and 1m winner, while sire Dutch Art won twice at 6f as a 2YO, including G1 Middle Park Stakes. Fahey has a good strike rate with juveniles at this track.

18:10 Bath: Invincible Tiger (5/4)
Sixth on debut in May, but good third when racing wide at Hamilton later in the month. Taken to go well again today and is the leading contender

Newsletter exclusive tips
Today’s first tip comes from the world of jumps. It’s Swapped (15/8) in the opener at Worcester (13:58) for Nicky Henderson and Nico de Boinville. The six-year-old was a distant second on its chasing debut at Newton Abbot lto and should be there or there abouts again today.
I also like the look of Book Of Tales (7/4) in the 17:40 at Bath. It won over C&D earlier this month and followed with a win at Yarmouth over a short tip. He’s up 7lb on that run and up in class but is constantly improving and can win again in this small field.
