JPRacing - Goodwood Day One
Couple of nice winners in yesterday’s newsletter. The NAP Molaqab was a winner for pretty much all of Racing Twitter (should we be calling it Racing X now?) under Tom Marquand and Mythology getting off the mark for Joseph O’Brien.
🔥 Mythology, one from the tracker, gets off the mark for Joseph O’Brien
👏 Nice 7/4 winner for the newsletter

There’s some cracking racing to come this week. Galway continues, Glorious Goodwood starts and there’s cards Yarmouth, Beverley, Perth and Worcester too… you beauty!
Headlines
There was a nicely bred winner worth keeping an eye on at Galway yesterday. Mystical Power (Galileo x Annie Power) won the opener easily. He’s been slashed too 16/1 for the Supreme and the Ballymore with the plan to keep him hurdling.
👏 6/4 an absolute gift of a price as Mystical Power (Galileo x Annie Power) wins the opener at Galway for Willie Mullins and JP McManus

There will be changes to the new controversial whip rule after a six-month review since they were imposed. There will be no change to the number of strikes, but the period for the ban could be reduced.
Matt Chapman broke the news that jumps racing will return to Windsor on At The Races yesterday and it’s been meet with a very positive reaction from the wider community.

Goodwood day one picks
As I have done with most festivals since I started this, Goodwood will have its own section for the rest of the week.
14:15 40th Anniversary Stakes Maiden Stake
On a normal day, Array would be the one to watch. But since he’s at Goodwood, he’s in this as a selection. The Juddmonte colt was second at Newbury on debut and is 11/8 and constantly shortening for this contest as he looks to get off the mark for Andrew Balding.

16:00 Lennox Stakes (G2)
Frankie has stepped up the mark on the big stage so many times this season and I wouldn’t put it past him turning up again tomorrow. Thanks to the rain, Kinross (NAP) has been well-backed for the Lennox and it’s hard to over look him.
He won this race two years, was beaten by only a neck 12 months ago and was a dual G1 last campaign. The Ralph Beckett horse was a close third in the July Cup lto and can win this in trip as he avoids a penalty for going down in class.

16:35 Goodwood Cup (G1)
The third and final pick of day one comes from the feature race and siding with Frankie again as I think Courage Mon Ami can get make it five wins from five.
Won the Gold Cup under Dettori at Royal Ascot earlier this season and it looks like there’s plenty more to come from the Gosden horse as he could dominate the Long Distance division for years considering he’s only four.

One to watch
Today’s one to watch is a bit difference. Instead a 2YO, I’ve picked out a horse making her debut over obstacles — Military Two Step at 7/4 in the Mares’ Maiden Hurdle (19:40) at Worcester.
She was a useful flat horse for the Johnsons, winning over 2m off a OR off 82 just last month. Could go well on first attempt over hurdles over the same distance today. In-form Harry Cobden (28%) and James Owen (29%) link up.

Newsletter exclusive tips
The first exclusive is Champ De Gane in the 18:50 at Perth. He was second over fences here lto, but makes his return to hurdles today and sets a good standard for the double green under Daryl Jacob.
The other exclusive is also from the world of jumps and is another Cobden ride at Worcester. Rubys Award won well over C&D under Harry lto and is 11/8 in the last at 20:45. She’s 7lb up in weights, but can defy that to win again.
