JPRacing - Blue Yonder Day

Catterick and the Curragh have survived morning inspections, but Bangor is abandoned and tomorrow’s meeting at Ffos Las has been cancelled with Storm Ciaran (yep, another one), set wreak havoc on the UK and Ireland.

There’s still four cars today though, with a sole jumps meeting at Chepstow and flat at the Curragh, Catterick and Newcastle.

Let’s get into it…

Blue Yonder 💙🧡

No update on tactics for today or anything as of yet, but I will only be backing 7/4 to place (3 places) this afternoon.

Ones to watch

Aidan O’Brien sends out a newcomer in the opener at the Curragh.

Samuel Colt is a 340,000gns yearling out of No Nay Never and Lessons In Life, and is brother to 7f winner Montego and half-brother to 1m6f winner Pasley.

He’s drifting in the market this morning, as Kortez Bay is now as short as evens, and that is a concern is he’s out to 9/4 (5/2 boosted on 365). But this isn’t that tough a race, and he could well be a first-time winner.

The opener at Catterick has two previous winners at the fore of the market, with preference currently for Rogue Enforcer, but I like Tsunami Spirit at 15/8.

He won over 6f at Kempton last month, and this will be his first crack at the shortest trip, but further progress is likely even if the market is against me yet again.

Harry Cobden is already in the saddle for the NAP, but it could be a good day for the Ditcheat rider at Chepstow.

Fortuna Ligna rounded off last season with a win over 2m3.5f, and is expected to improve further over longer this season - starting with 2m7f in the 14.05. She’s shortening up rightly from 5/2 to 15/8.

Cobden then teams up for Nicholls again Captain Bellamy in the Bumper. He’s a P2P winner and is heavily expected to make a winning start for Team Ditcheat at 11/10
