JPRacing - Happy New Year

Well, it’s the first newsletter of the New Year - and there are some big changes, as Peppermint.sh are no longer with us.

I want to thank them for the support last year, but it leaves the production of the newsletter in a tricky situation - as there is no longer any monetisation.

It takes a lot of time and effort to produce this on a daily basis, and while I’m not money hungry in the slightest, it is hard to keep it going on top of my day job and responsibilities without an incentive.

I’ve thought about various options, from going to subscription-based on Twitter to making the newsletter paid, but I think the best option is to just provide my PayPal and give you guys the option of if you want to make a monthly ‘donations’ of a couple quid a month or give a little after a decent win etc.

This way there’s no pressure on me as a paid service and there’s no pressure on you guys to pay anything either. If that’s something you’re interested in doing, my PayPal is [email protected] (send as friends and family).

Anyway, onto today. There’s just the three cards, with jumps at Fakenham and Ayr, while there’s an AW card at Wolverhampton.

Just Gino was being well-backed for the 13:00 at Fakenham, and he was the telegram tip. But he’s been declared a NR and preference is now with Wise Guy at 2/1s.

He was a solid 3-8 from 13/2 on his hurdle debut in October and he was going well at this course when he slipped at the beginning of November.

He’s had a wind op since and makes his return with a great chance of striking for the first time this afternoon.

El Jefe has drifted a little bit this morning, but he remains the favourite for the 15:00 at Fakenham at 7/4, and he looks more than capable of competing at four-timer despite an 8lb rise for his success at Haydock last month. The extra furlong over 2m4f today could also play to his advantage and ensure he is still ahead of his mark.

LTO C&D winner For Gina is the short-price favourite for the last at Fakenham, and a 5lb rise for that victory certainly isn’t the end of the world, but I do like the look of Hobb’s Delight who is being well-backed and into 2/1.

He showed stark improvement when forcing a dead-heat at Fontwell on Boxing Day and he avoids a penalty for the that since it was conditionals race. Today’s longer trip should be right up his street when looking at his pedigree as well.

A couple for Wolverhampton as well, the first being Inner Temple under Hollie Doyle. She returned to British racing on New Year’s Eve and got her first win at Newcastle yesterday.

Inner Temple was third in two starts over 6f here under Luke Morris in November, and a step up in trip to 7f could see it get off the mark under Doyle at 15/8 in the 18:30.

Finally, Hill Station has won three of his last four starts and is 7/4 to complete the hattrick here this evening in the last. He’s another 5lb heavier for his recent success at Southwell, but that should be enough to stop him going again and he has C&D form after winning here in October.
