JPRacing - Storm Babet ⛈️
Storm Babet is set to cause chaos in the coming days, with the downpour expected to hit from 15:00 this afternoon. Up to 30mm of rain could hit Ascot today alone and there is more expected by Saturday.
That means it’s looking likely that three races on Champions Day, the Champion Stakes being one, will be switched to the inner course — which is usually used for jumps racing.
That decision can be made as late as Saturday morning, but it has raised some concerns from trainers and we could see the withdrawals of several big names.

It’s not just Champions Day that this storm is going to affect though, it will likely cause havoc for the rest of the week, and cards tomorrow and Friday could well be impacted.
Anyway, we will worry about that when we come to it. It’s on with today for now. There’s a sole jumps card at Wetherby, with flat at Bath, Navan, Nottingham and Kempton.

Ones to watch
There are juvenile races galore this afternoon. There are 11 to be precise, with two at Navan, four at Nottingham, two at Bath and three at Kempton.
Calvert has been in the frame on his three starts to date, landing back-to-back thirds at Windsor and Kempton in August before reappearing with a fourth at this Bath earlier this month. He returns to the latter for the 14:20 today, and he’s upped in trip to 1m2f. Jim Crowley rides and he could get off the mark for Roger Teal at 13/8.
The juvenile I am most keen on today though, is Beeley in the 14:35 at Nottingham for the Gosdens. She was second by only a nose over C&D two weeks ago and she can strike on her second attempt under Kieran Shoemark this afternoon. Albeit at a short price of 5/4.

Got off the mark on fifth attempt when winning by over 2 lengths at Yarmouth last month. That form has been boosted by a couple of subsequent winners since and he can follow up Marquand again today

Kalamunda finally got off the mark for Joseph Parr at Southwell earlier this month, and he can follow up on that success in the 18:00 at Kempton despite a 6lb penalty. The in-form James Doyle rides today as well, which looks to be a good booking. He is also only 5/4 at best though.
Hat-trick-seeking Sea The Clouds has won his last two at Worcester and Warwick and is looking to tick off all the Ws with a win at Wetherby in the 16:40 this afternoon. He’s only 4lb higher for his success over 3m1f lto and has a fantastic chance of going again from 7/4.
My Chiquita is another I like in the opener at Wetherby. The two-time flat winner won on her first attempt over hurdles earlier this month and she could well be able to make it 2-2 from 7/4.
