JPRacing - Friday
It’s a new month, so hopefully a fresh start after a difficult period. Yesterday wasn’t great, but the one positive is that I don’t think Blue Yonder made the worst account of himself in that company at all.
He was going well around two furlongs out, but he ran out of gas when the pace really picked up and he ultimately finished eighth of 13 runners — which isn’t bad when you consider that he drifted all the way out to 66/1 before the off and finished about two lengths behind Joseph O’Brien’s favourite, who was sixth.
There’s hope that we will see him three or four more times before the end of the season, when there will be a big decision for all the owners to make on whether he stays on the flat, goes over hurdles, or is sold on.
Anyway, he’ll be back in 0-70s next time out and hopefully, he’ll be dropped a couple of lbs by the handicapper to mark around 68 — and we shouldn’t need to wait too long to see him in action again 🤞 .
Onto today, there’s flat racing at Thirsk — where William Buick is due to make a rare appearance — Carlisle, Ffos Las, Wolverhampton and Salisbury, and three jumps meetings at Fontwell, Wexford and Down Royal.
