However, after so much racing last week, especially later in the week, we’re now enduring something of a quiet (crap) period.
Yesterday was particularly shit, with just two jumps meetings and today isn’t much better with five meetings across the UK and Ireland.
Monday’s are usually a pretty good day for the newsletter though, so let’s hope we can still find a few winners at Ayr, Newton Abbot, Killarney, Windsor and Wolverhampton.
Headlines
Shaquille absolutely hosed home to justify favouritism in the July Cup. He’s such a unique horse in that he starts so badly, but wins so well. That was also a first Group 1 success for Rossa Ryan.
City Of Troy was also impressive at Newmarket on Saturday, winning the Superlative Stakes at a canter and the Aidan O’Brien 2YO is now the 5/2 fav for the Guineas.
Two-time French Classic winner Blue Rose Cen is set to clash with Nashwa in the Nassau Stakes at Goodwood.
Adelaide River could be in contention for the King George after finishing runner-up to Feed The Flame in the Grand Prix de Paris. Hakum is also still on track to feature in the Ascot G1.
One to watch
There’s just the one one to watch today and it’s Bremen (11/8) in the 17:20 at Killarney. The Donnacha O’Brien horse was beaten by just a neck by a previous winner on debut from 22/1 at Tipperary earlier this month and he can use that experience to go one better today.
Aidan’s and Joseph’s newcomers Navy Seal (5/2) and Alonzo (6/1), who both hold entries in the G1 Vincent O’Brien National Stakes in September, appear to be the obvious dangers

Newsletter exclusive tips
This section in particular was on fire last week, so let’s see if we can keep that going with today’s selections.
The first pick is Oh So Grand at 11/8 in the 19:00 at Wolverhampton. She made all the running when she got off the mark at Bath just under two weeks and she’s open to further improvement under a penalty today.
The second is Matloob (13/8) in the 18:40 at Windsor. He was was disappointing on his first two starts, but finally got off the mark to win by over a length at Wolverhampton lto and he can improve tons if the penny finally dropped. Indispensable being a non-runner should be a big boost as well.
Last but not least, we have a pick from the world of jumps. Romanor ran on late to finish third at Stratford earlier this month and the experienced horse looks like he could pick up his fourth chasing victory this afternoon in the 16:35 at Newton Abbot.
