JPRacing - Midweek action
Today is probably the first time since Saturday that I’ve looked at the cards and haven’t thought to myself: ‘What a pile of shit.’ There’s racing from Bath, Catterick, Longfield, Naas, Sandown and Leicester and it only improves as the week goes on…
Speaking of piles of shit, that’s a fair way to describe yesterday’s newsletter if I’m being completely honest. I like to flaunt my winners, but it’s only fair that I hold my hands when it goes tits up as well and that was yesterday. River Of Joy (2/1) won at Southwell, but that was the only winner as Ascot Adventure and Macanudo were second and Show Compassion was rubbish.
Hopefully we can have a better one today, so let’s get into it.
Headlines
Matt Chapman was digging around for answers regarding what Constitution Hill is going to do next season again yesterday, but neither the horse’s owner Michael Buckley nor his regular rider Nico de Boinville were giving anything away (unsurprisingly). We could have to wait until the end of September to find out.
“I’d be like Arsenal” - Sean Bowen took a swipe at Mikel Arteta’s bottle jobs yesterday by claiming he’d be just like the North London side if he doesn’t go on to win the jump jockeys’ championship. He’s almost 30 wins ahead of Brian Hughes.
The majority of the jockey bookings are in for the King George, we are just waiting to see who will ride Aidan O’Brien’s runners at this stage.

One to watch
There’s another Ballydoyle newcomer at Naas this evening, and you guessed it, I’m all over it like a rash. Cherry Blossom makes her debut in the 17:15 and is currently fancied as 7/4 favourite for the Listed 5f affair. She’s a 360,000 euro yearling by No Nay Never x Canada Water and is a half-sister to several winners.
She’s Ryan Moore's pick of the two Ballydoyle runners and one of his two booked rides at Naas tonight — the other being fellow 2YO Edwardian who looks set to get off the mark in the opener at 8/15 after finishing second on debut.
Cherry Blossom’s nearest rival Storm Miami won over C&D here on debut earlier this month and will likely be her biggest challenger on that basis.

Ran well in three starts to date (322), pushing odds-on favourite Fierce close when only beaten by a neck last week. She was 5l clear of one of this race’s rivals that’s day too. Experience should stand up well against the… twitter.com/i/web/status/1…

Newsletter exclusive tips
The first tip is a horse that has featured in the newsletter before. She didn’t win that day but she’s worth giving a second chance today. It’s Tenhotfourcrazy. She’s come home second in both her races to date, but looks good in the weights for this race and should take the beating. She’s 5/4 best in the 4:40 at Lingfield.
The second tip is another short-price, as I’m backing Prepense to win at the 19:50 at Leicester at evens. She won a maiden fillies on debut in April, but is yet to get off the mark in handicaps — finishing 6/11 at Kempton and 3/6 at Newmarket. The daughter of Kingman is off the same mark today, but this is a weaker race and she could strike for Sir Michael Stoute.
