JPRacing - Thursday

Yesterday was a dud, and the ground and weather conditions are making things very difficult these last couple of weeks.

But we keep going and there is plenty of action once again today, despite Warwick becoming the latest jumps card to bite the dust thanks to the conditions.

We’re still treated to jumps at Naas, Taunton and Newcastle, while there’s a sole AW meeting at Chelmsford.

Let’s get on with it…

Ones to watch

There are three juvenile races at Chelmsford this evening, and Alfred is going for his hattrick in the second of those at 18:00.

The MPR horse was tipped in this section when he won a second time in succession at Wolverhampton on November 23rd, and a 9lb rise in the weights might not be enough to stop him from winning just yet as he was over two lengths clear on his last day.

The George Boughey-trained 2YO is currently locked at the fore of the market with another hattrick seeker in the form of Habrdi at 2/1.

The opening race at Chelmsford should go to Godolphin’s Bold Style (5/4). The Shamardal colt was second of 11 on his debut at Wolverhampton on November 25, but he’s likely to improve and has the best form of those with previous runs.

Let’s take a look at the bumper at Newcastle as well. Tigga Time won on his only British P2P appearance and is of interest at 3/1 as he makes his debut for Sandy Thomson, but preference is with the more experienced Get A Superstar (11/4).

After failing to finish any of his first three P2Ps, he ran well for 4-15 from 66/1 in a Tipperary bumper in May and he made a promising debut yard debut when second at Carlisle in October. Again, the one to back on form figures.

Willie Mullins and Paul Townend are already off the mark at Naas today with Blood Destiny in the opener, and they could well score again with Qaui De Bourbon (13/8) in the maiden hurdle at 12:35.

The four-year-old, owned by top connections Gigginstown House Stud, jumped poorly on his first couple of starts in France - pulling up on debut and finishing 4-10 from 13/1 next time.

He’s been out of action for over a year and has joined Closutton since. There’s no doubt he should be more fluent now and may be hard to beat if Willie has him up to his promise for this debut.
