JPRacing - Thursday ⛈️
Yesterday’s newsletter was up +3.25 thanks to Greenfinch winning her maiden at Dundalk from 4/1 and the NAP Placo (5/4) also getting off the mark at Lingfield.
Placo’s win also meant that three of the last four NAPS have been winners, which I’m certainly happy with.
Moving on to today, the effects of Storm Ciaran are already beginning to be felt. Lingfield is off and I wouldn’t be surprised if another card was to be pulled after racing has already started — like Fakenham yesterday.
Anyway, there are two jumps cards at Thurles and Stratford, and three AW meetings at Newcastle, Wolverhampton and Chelmsford.
Before we get started, British Racing has launched a petition to stop the implementation of betting affordability checks. You can sign it by clicking here if you wish.

We’ve done okay in this section over the last couple of days, mainly thanks to Coolmoor as Samuel Colt won at 5/2 on Tuesday and the previously mentioned Greenfinch getting up at 4/1 yesterday.
The market is going to be your best friend in a Newcomers’ Maiden Stakes, and the money is coming for Karl Burke’s Artistic Mission in the 13:35 at Wolverhampton.
He’s as short as 9/4 in some places, but available generally at 5/2. Betvictor appears to moving a bit slowly, however, and still has him at 4/1. So hopefully that’s still available by the time this goes out.
He’s a half-brother to First Folio, who has won a few times over 6f, and the gelded son of Showcasing should boast plenty of pace in this 7f contest.
Moving on to Newcastle, Cool Run improved in first-time cheekpieces when finishing second over 6f from 11/1 here last month. She drops to the minimum trip for the 17:10, and that could work in her favour as she was headed and made no impression in the final furlong lto. She’s 11/8
Over to Chelmsford, Zachary is getting a lot of support in the opener at 17:00. He won for the first time in his career over the minimum trip here from 9/2 last month, but couldn’t follow up under a penalty at Newcastle when coming home 4-11 lto.
He’s stepped up to 6f for just the second time this evening and could add a second win to his CV. The market is certainly implying so, as he’s as short as 6/5.

12:35 Stratford: Danny Azoff (5/4)
Proving to be a better hurdler than chaser, and he returns to the small obstacles today having won in this sphere on his last attempt in September. Leading contender here

King Otis got off the mark on the 15th attempt in a novices’ handicap hurdle at Plumpton last month. He carries a 7lb penalty for that success in the 14:55 at Stratford, but claimer Lily Pinchin (3) takes away some of that. Can carry on winning way from 13/8 today.
