A couple of winners and too many seconds yesterday. As I expected, Samuel Colt was a nice sort and won pretty comfortably on debut for Ballydoyle at 5/2, while the market support was right for Captain Bellamy in the bumper at Chepstow.
Fortuna Ligna, Don’t Tell Su and Tsunami Spirit were all second, so wouldn’t have been a bad day to put on a place acca on the five selections!
Blue Yonder raced readily toward the fore yesterday, which wasn’t the plan as he was supposed to stay in mid-div. He faded in the final furlongs and was nowhere in the end.
Newcastle doesn’t seem to suit him, but I think he’s set to go back to Wolverhampton this month and he has some nice form there — so can hopefully produce another good run there.
Moving on to today. Nottingham is abandoned, but Fakenham, Dundalk, Lingfield and Kempton all go ahead.

Ones to watch
It’s another day littered with juvenile races. There are four at Kempton, two at Dundalk and three at Lingfield.
Today’s NAP (see below) is a 2YO and so is the tip in the horses and boosts broadcast channel (also see below).
But there are a couple more that have caught my eye.
Accumulate has featured in this second before, winning at Newmarket on his second outing for Roger Varian. But he’s been smashed to odds-on for the 13:00 at Lingfield this morning, and I’m tempted to take him on with second favourite Majed.
The Gosden horse was second at Leicester on debut in September, and that form has since been boosted with first placing in a Group 3 at Newmarket in October and third going on to win at Yarmouth. He receives weight from the Coolmore runner and further progress should be on the cards, so in with a good chance.
Speaking of Coolmore, they have a runner who has caught my eye at Dundalk. Greenfinich showed stark improvement on her debut 7th of 10 at Punchestown when second to a very nice winner on debut Porters Place at the Curragh last month.
Further improvement could see her win this modest maiden from 4/1 at 15:30.

🏇 Wednesday NAP
14:05 Lingfield: Placo (5/4)
Promising debut when 4-11 from 10/1 at Leicester in September and only beaten by a neck lto at Newmarket. Third that day has gone on to win here since and fourth has struck too. One to beat on that form

Regarde set off as the 11/10 favourite on his chasing debut at Huntingdon last month, and he showed why he had such big market support when winning by over six lengths on his first attempt over fences.
He’s up 6lb for that success in the 14:45 at Fakenham today, but he’s still going to take some stopping at the same odds as his debut (11/10). Brandisova was a C&D winner here earlier this year and is the biggest danger in this three-horse race.
