JPRacing - Eight Mile8️⃣

Eight Mile has proved to be an absolute pain in my ass over the last couple of days. He didn’t run when napped on Tuesday due to unsuitable ground, went to Yarmouth yesterday instead and I didn’t fancy him — but, of course, he won from 9/2.

He runs again today at Chepstow and is fancied at 2/1 in 15:35 to make it a hattrick and a second win in as many days. Billy Loughnane takes the ride and has a 40% strike rate here. I think I have to back him after the rollercoaster he has sent me on this week.

Anyway, now I have got that off my chest, Bazball, the NAP Hitched and Rock On Tommy (a name a lot of the people in the telegram found funny for whatever reason 😉 ) all won to make yesterday another solid day.

There’s plenty of racing today too, with flat at Hamilton, Chepstow, Leicester, Epsom and Leopardstown, while there’s jumps at Killarney and Worcester.

Headlines

Art Power is going for a quick turnaround after his July Cup fourth as he’s set to reappear in the Barberstown Castle Sapphire Stakes at the Curragh on Saturday.

Coolmore are considering sending Paddington Down Under for the valuable Cox Plate worth £2.6m. The Juddmonte at York next month, which the horse is entered in, will guarantee the winner a place in the race.

Speaking of Paddington, he’s set to face Inspiral in the Sussex Stakes at Glorious Goodwood. That’s starting to shape up into a nice-looking race.

On the topic of hot races, the King George could be one of the races of the year if entries stay as they are. Derby winner Desert Crown is now on course to feature after working out under Ryan Moore. I will likely be at Ascot for that, so if you’re going — holla at me.

One to watch

Today’s NAP (see below) is a 2YO, so I only have one other juvenile to watch today and I’ve lost the price, as it was 13/8 earlier and even 11/10 is gone to 10/11. The horse in question is Godolphin’s Inner City in the 6:30 at Epsom.

He’s been a beaten favourite on both of his starts thus far, but he hasn’t disgraced himself and is worth giving another chance today on what is his third chance. William Buick rides for Charlie Appleby.

We’re going to be waiting a while for the first tip to run, as it’s Spritzin in the 20:40 at Epsom. He was second for Sir Mark Prescot on seasonal reappearance and handicap debut at Pontefract earlier this month, missing out by just a neck. Can get off the mark today at 13/8.

The second selection is Zucayan at 9/4 in the 19:20 at Worcester. The Fergal O’Brien horse hasn’t been seen since it won a handicap hurdle at Ludlow in May, but it’s just 4lb higher today and has solid claims to follow up under claimer Nick Slatter.
