Back with a couple of winners yesterday, the best of which was Gentleman’s Relish in the bumper at Newbury from 11/4. To quote, I said, “If he’s as good as he’s supposed to be, then he should be winning” — and he did, by a comfortable six lengths.
The other was the exclusive Tom Creen, who also won easily, but from a much shorter price of 11/10.
Allaho romped home on his first racecourse appearance in 18 months, and he’s now a general 3/1 shot for the Ryanair Chase.
Before we move on to today, Blue Yonder is back in action tomorrow. He’s in the Class 6 CCR Thanks The Armed Forces Handicap at Chelmsford at 18:30, it’s the first time he’s raced back at this level since winning those back-to-back races at Beverley and Wolverhampton. I’ll post updates more when I find out more.
Right then, let’s get down to the good stuff today. There are jumps at Exeter, Down Royal and Hexham, and AW action at Chelmsford, Dundalk and Newcastle.

Ones to watch
The 15:42 Fillies’ Novice Stakes at Newcastle is an interesting one. Just five of the current 11 entries have taken to the course previously, and the market leader Leveret stands out on the form lines.
She was a promising second when only beaten by half-a-length on her maiden outing appearance over C&D in September, and on that basis, you’d expect the Richard Fahey horse to winning this from 11/8.
Guess who’s out this evening at Dundalk? Our favourite Sweetest, and guess what? She ain’t shedding that maiden tag yet again in the 18:00, as Donnacha’s Whispersinthewind, who was third over C&D in September, should be the one winning here from 13/8.

14:20 Exeter: Major Fortune (9/4)
2nd and third in Bumpers before not making much of an impression over hurdles. Showed some progress when 4-8 on debut for Skeltons, and could be more to come on this handicap debut off a good mark

Broomfield Present was a nice horse over hurdles last season, winning twice on either side of a second at Catterick, and his previous experience in P2Ps indicate that he might not mind a fence.
That’s why he makes plenty of appeal to me on his chase debut in the 16:00 at Exeter this afternoon. It’s a step up in class, but he should be made for these bigger obstacles and he’s priced at 3/1.
