Then yesterday there was the Mullins double at Punchestown tipped on Saturday night, which ended up paying nearly 4/1. Like it or not, you can’t moan about 4x your money 🤷♂️.

It’s officially blue Monday, but there’re four meetings to lift the spirits - with jumps cards at Punchestown and Hereford and two AW meetings at Linfield and Wolverhampton.

Made a good transition to fences, finishing third on debut over the larger obstacles at Hereford in December before being denied by a neck at Leicester last month. Big chance off the same mark

The opener at Punchestown looks like an intriguing contest. Willie Mullins newcomer Highwind is making his debut for Closutton in the Galopin Des Champs colours (Audrey Turley).
It’s been well-enough backed, but my preference is with Gordon Elliott’s Mordor at 7/2. He made a promising start over hurdles when third from 16/1 at Leopardstown over Christmas and further improvement should be on the cards.
Also of interest at Punchestown is Buachaillbocht in the 15:25 at 7/4. He won at Tramore on reappearance in November but was well held in third back there on New Year’s Day. Heavy ground likely didn’t suit and he can make a bold bid to win again off the same mark.
It’s not often I’ve sided with the Skeltons recently, but Major Fortune looks in with a chance of following up on its success at Market Rasen on Boxing Day in the 15:37 at Hereford. He’s up just 3lb for that success and 6/4 to follow up.
Potential for Wolves picks later…
